Guiding Principles
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a moment-by-moment awareness of our lived experience. An invitation to gently attune to our experience in our body, our breath, physical sensations, feelings, mental formations, consciousness and our environment.
Embodiment
Embodying our lived experience is a capacity to feel deeply into our present moment experiences. It is an arriving home into the feeling senses of the body. When we are able to feel deeply into our lived experiences of pleasure, wonder and gratitude, we can then open to embody painful emotional states and reintegrate disconnected parts of the self. The body is the primary source of information and energy for living with wellness, connection and interconnection. Somatic skills in perceiving and discerning sensations, feelings and images, allow us to become aware of the body’s needs and to attend to those needs. Developing sensory awareness (interoception) allows people to tolerate their sensations, befriend their inner human experience and cultivate new action patterns. It supports emotional regulation.
Heartfulness
Inhabiting the heart invites us into connection with our essence - our authentic Self. Awakening the energy of the heart connects us with our longings, our values, our innate joy and our passions. This support us to actualize our deeper purpose by embodying its impulses in wise action. The heart invites us to live with greater compassionate and loving awareness.
Innate wisdom
This work rests upon the premise that each person has within themselves an innate capacity to heal or restore balance. Individuals are intrinsically wise living systems capable of self-organization, self-correction, and self-maintenance. The work supports individuals’ natural restorative ability.
Integration
Integration is the recognition that the whole being comprises the physical, etheric, emotional/feeling, mental and the spiritual bodies, which continuously interact and influence each other and a person's experience of their self, others, their world.
Inter-being
Inter-being recognises that our experience occurs in profound connection with all around us, and all that has come before us, and what will come after us. We free ourselves from the idea that we are a separate self through conscious awareness of interbeing.
