Taking a sacred pause
What truly matters to you…
How we live our life is often not aligned with our deepest intentions.
During times of stress or and busy-ness, challenges or conflict can arise. Instead of responding skilfully, we may find ourselves reacting in ways that are unintended. Inviting a Sacred Pause can support us to step out of our habitual patterns, and return to a state of mindfulness, which opens space for us to respond from a place of wisdom and compassion.
You might like to take a moment now to invite a Sacred Pause…
Allowing mindfulness to be present. Inviting you to noticing what is actually present in the body-mind, here in the moment. Are there thoughts in the mind? Is there any pain or tension in the body that is calling for attention? What emotions are present? You may notice fear, anger, sadness or striving. What is happening with your breath? Is the breath flowing effortlessly or is there some constriction? You may be aware of the subtle tendency of the nervous system to want to shut down, fight, flee or open to the moment.
Welcoming awareness of the motivations of the body-mind that are present in this moment. Is your motivation care and compassion for yourselves and others? Are you wanting to be right? Are you wanting to prove yourself better than others or perhaps prove your worthlessness? Allowing space for what is arising here in this moment. If there is discomfort present, notice if you can hold the discomfort with tenderness, curiosity and compassion? Finding a way to embrace and make peace with what is present.
Gently arriving into the sense of self, in the here and now. Welcoming the Sacredness of this moment.
You might like to bring your hands to your heart? Notice how that feels? Can you feel the body and breath respond to the touch of your hands on your heart?
Inviting tenderness and compassion towards your Self. Like the divine mother caring for her child, you can extend the same care to your Self.
You may find that your body naturally sways or rocks, perhaps the breath deepens, or you may simply notice the warmth of your hands over the chest.
In turning your attention inward. Inviting awareness of your intentions, your values, and your dedication for life. As you tune into your heart, noticing any feelings or messages that that are present. You may like to invite the question “what is most wise and loving in this moment”, and allow the response to arise naturally.
Allowing life to be breathed into this moment. Feeling your body as it is here, and if your eyes are closed you may like to gently open them and take in the surroundings.
Inviting you to take a moment to notice how pausing has supported you, and how you might like to bring this into your day.
